Hey! Yes, you’re not wrong. It’s the same airport as the last project; however, it’s a different company with different assets. For this project, I created the two main terminals of Frankfurt Airport (Terminals 1 and 2). I had three months to produce both terminals.
This project was a new challenge for me. Since a terminal is a Hero Asset, it’s expected to be highly realistic, especially because the fan base is very picky and loves this game with all their heart. I can guarantee that they know this airport better than I do, even after spending countless hours reviewing hundreds of photos and videos. Fans enjoy comparing payware airports from different companies producing for the Flight Simulator Store.
I had a great time working with the Aerosoft Team. They were incredibly helpful with their feedback. My responsibilities included modeling, UVing, texturing, lighting, and set dressing in the MSFS Engine, and testing in game for major issues such as flickering, color tones at different times of day, shaders, alignment with the ground, and lighting for night mode.
In this game, the interior is a bonus, it’s not part of the core gameplay. To access the interior, players need to enter dev mode and use the camera tools. Because of this, the interior is designed to be viewed from a distance, typically from the cockpit of an airplane, which means it has fewer details, and some areas might look “empty.” However, we include it for marketing videos, where it adds life to the presentation.
Alright, alright, you want to see the “back door” of this work, right? Don’t worry; that’ll be at the end info for the nerds!
Special Bug content at the very end =)
I was also responsible for QA and leading a small team that worked on creating the interior and warehouse.
